Virtualization

In the computing world , virtualization refers to the act of creating a virtual rather than actual  version of something , including virtual computer hardware platforms , operating systems , storage devices , and computer network resources .Virtualization began in since 1960s, as a logical division of system resources provided by mainframe computers between different applications.

WHY VIRTUALIZATION?
The major aim of System virtualization is to cut down the cost of running IT infrastructure by allowing a single machine to serve a dual purpose. For example one single machine can server as a print server and DNS sever when virtualized. In the parlance of network, A virtualized network is a centralized network that is designed to reduce cost by allowing several systems or users to share applications and hardware by connecting to the central computer through Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).

WHAT TO VIRTUALIZE
Hardware and software are the major things that are virtualized. The hardware virtualization are of two versions. The server virtualization which aimed at creating a server version of your hardware to meet up with your need and the desktop virtualization which is aimed at creating a client computer. To achieve this the following virtualization softwares are used:
1. Vmware
2. Microsoft virtual pc
3. VirtualBox

The thinclient which runs a thin OS and the zeroclient which runs no OS are mostly used in a network to create a centralized network. The use of thinclients in a network can cut down IT cost by 70% this because in a LAN of 10 system on the central system is really cared for as every resources needed by the other nine are made available through the central system. The use of thinclient can cut down electricity cost by 70-80% as most thinclients use as low 12watt which is far less than an energy saver bulb. Thinclients do not need any installation of software like the the server computer. With it there is no fear of virus, no installation and updating of antivirus and no hard drive crash down. Both the thinclients and the virtual machine software are targeted to creating a virtual part of the machine rather than the actual. below are common thinclients and their manufacturers.
1. wyse thinclient and zero client

2. Hp thinclients
